Film photographer Savannah Scruggs uses analogue tools and techniques to capture modern life, which sometimes causes “a sense of nostalgia for the moments you’re currently living.” Despite the rise of digital cameras and photoshop, Savannah first started shooting with her grandfather’s Canon AE-1 and developed her own film while growing up in Alabama. She discovered a passion for curating photographs rather than simply taking them. She meticulously poses her subjects and takes the time to frame every shot with purpose, which gives her work a more cinematic and introspective tone. Her personal work is heavily influenced by literature, which she studied in college, and she often expresses her struggles with anxiety and sleep paralysis through the use of masks.

After relocating to Nashville, her professional work with local musicians resulted in several album covers as well as features in Rolling Stone, Forbes, Polaroid Originals MagazinePerformer Magazine and Nashville Scene Magazine in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Her work was also used by Polaroid to promote their 2017 relaunch.

Savannah also directs and shoots music videos, often collaborating with her husband Kyle Andrews who is a musician and producer.

Her love for methodical techniques led her into the field of custom framing in early 2017, and she currently uses her eye for detail to build frames in Spooner, WI.
